Royal wedding fever has gripped the nation since the announcement last year that Prince William is to wed Kate Middleton. Keen attention is being paid to every detail of the ceremony, which is to take place on April 29th.
Recently, it was revealed that a group of chefs from Wales are to use their kitchen equipment to bake the all-important wedding cake for the happy couple. The cooks are from the Welsh National Culinary Team, which is sponsored by a range of organisations, including the Welsh Assembly Government, Hybu Cig Cymru/ Meat Promotion Wales and Villeroy and Boch.
Recently, the gastronomic experts used their catering equipment to good effect in Luxembourg, winning a gold medal at the Culinary World Cup.
The team was granted permission to bake the royal wedding cake after manager Graham Tinsley extended an offer to do so.
Commenting on this, he said: “I wrote to St James’s Palace on behalf of the team in December to congratulate Prince William and Kate Middleton and offered to bake a wedding cake when the wedding was announced. We are delighted and honoured that our offer has been accepted.
“With Prince William being stationed on Anglesey with the RAF search and rescue team and, apparently, gong to live in north Wales with his bride following the wedding, I think it’s fitting that Welsh chefs should cook a cake for them.”
He went on to note that the team, who may begin using their kitchen equipment to get the cake started soon, have not yet finalised the decoration they will create. However, they know it will be traditionally Welsh and will probably contain dragons and other such emblems of the country.
It was not revealed where the preparations will take place and where the catering equipment that will be utilised for the undertaking is based.
